Food Directory Group

The Food Directory subgroup had its first meeting on December 22nd 2009.

The objectives of the Directory are

  • to raise awareness of the need to .think local.
  • to encourage purchase of local produce
  • to encourage local outlets to buy locally sourced food where possible in order to reduce the carbon footprint of the food they sell

The group agreed to start small, focusing on Ealing Broadway, South Ealing Road, Northfields Avenue, and including West Ealing Farmers Market. Initial phase is to devise a questionnaire to gather pertinent information. Actions have been agreed to find out how this has been done by other transition groups so that we can begin to construct the questionnaire at the next meeting.

We had a second meeting on Tuesday January 19th where we agreed to pilot our questionnaire among local outlets, taking two each.At our next meeting we will feed back our findings.

This will be on Tuesday 23 February, 7.30-9pm. We welcome more members so if any of you are interested in being part of this action-research, please contact Jan Baker:
